A lot of nutrition coaches will tell you that they will help you get your “beach body.”
And here’s why:
1. Every body is a “beach body” when it goes to the beach. Our worth and humanity are not tied to our shape or size. This kind of language implies that one kind of body is “better” than another, or that we will be better, happier, more valued or loved… if (and only if) we achieve a certain kind of body. None of which is true. At fuelED, we don’t use shame as a tactic. 🙅🏻♀️
2. We are often quick to give up on a goal when it’s defined as an outcome that may take a while to achieve. Changing your body takes time; and it’s unlikely to be a linear process. It can be demotivating to not see progress right away, or every day, when that outcome’s all you’re focused on. But if you put PROCESS goals (i.e., habits) in place, and focus intently on those - you can feel good about achieving those each day/week, regardless of the number on the scale or the image in the mirror. In turn, this helps keep the motivation going until you reach the desired outcome. Focus on the process, and the outcome will follow.
We had a brand new client tell us this story about how she was so excited one morning because she was feeling great in her body, energized, motivated…then she stepped on a scale and was instantly disappointed by the number she saw. She said, “I thought I would’ve lost more by now.” Totally deflated, she instantly lost all her excitement. (Can you relate?) And yet absolutely NOTHING had changed from that morning when she was so excited!
So for what? 🤔 Because somewhere down the line, someone told her that a “beach body” should only weigh X lbs?
Here’s the thing – when you work with fuelED, can you finally gain the confidence to wear your bathing suit to the beach? Absolutely! And we hope that you do. But that outcome is a result of focusing on building the daily habits that will help you lead a healthy, balanced lifestyle.
